Thank you to everyone who attended the Pick Tips evening. Our winner was Tim Hoffman who won the $20 prize for best tip. I have always said that our group contains a wealth of information and the evening clearly demonstrated the wide range of knowledge we hold.

For many of us, December is a difficult month. Difficult in terms of closing down a year’s worth of activities, end-of-quarter and end-of-year processing, planning for next year, budgets for 2004, and trying to juggle vacations, and a few Christmas parties. December is also a good time to reflect on the year’s accomplishments, take a step back, and set goals for the coming year.

I am pleased to announce our January speaker – Ian Sandler. Ian is a world-renowned Pick expert. He started his career over 30 years ago in the United Kingdom working with mainframes and early forms of networking. He was responsible for installing the first Mv based system in the UK in 1974. After moving to the United States in 1983, he was in charge of Software Development for Bantam/Pertec, C. Itoh, Sanyo/ICON, and General Automation where he was the person responsible for creating both R91 and Power95. Ian has also spent 7 years working as CIO of a major Aerospace company. He is very well versed in all the different flavors of Pick and Unix, and currently works as high-level consultant to a number of large Mv end-users in the credit collection, distribution, manufacturing and insurance fields. Ian is also a published author, and an advocate for the Mv model and its place within the larger open systems world.

Each of us can benefit from Ian’s views regarding the multi-valued environment, both past, present, and future. I hope you will attend.
